Importing List Options

On this page 7

For Select, Radio, and Checkbox fields, you can bulk-load options from a file instead of typing them in one at a time. This is useful for long lists like product catalogs, country lists, department directories, or budget IDs.

Where to Find It

Open the field's option editor in the form builder and choose Import Options. A modal opens with the upload form.

File Format

  • File type: CSV (.csv) or plain text (.txt).
  • Maximum size: 5 MB.
  • Header row: the first row is treated as a header and skipped, even if your file contains only one column.
  • Columns read: only the first column is imported. Any additional columns are ignored, so you can keep notes or IDs in your spreadsheet without affecting the import.

Example

csv
Option
Apples
Bananas
Cherries
Dragon Fruit

This imports four options: Apples, Bananas, Cherries, Dragon Fruit.

A multi-column file works the same way. Only the first column is used:

csv
Name,SKU,Notes
Apples,A100,Local
Bananas,B200,Imported

Replace All Existing Options

The Replace all existing options toggle controls how the import combines with what's already on the field:

  • Off (default) — new options are added to the existing list. Values that already exist are not duplicated, so you can re-run an import safely.
  • On — every existing option on this field is deleted before the new file is imported. This cannot be undone.

How the Import Runs

Imports are processed in the background in batches of 100 rows. After uploading, you can close the modal and continue working — progress is shown on the home page, and a toast confirms when the import has been queued.

Tips

  • Save your spreadsheet as CSV before uploading. Excel .xlsx files are not supported.
  • Trim leading/trailing whitespace if you're pulling values from a system that may include them — the import preserves what you upload.
  • If the same option value appears more than once in the file, it is only imported once.
